Here We Go Again

On Sunday morning I got up to go to church. To me it just seemed like a normal day until after lunch. I got a bad migraine witch turned into another one of my cyclic vomiting cycles. With this cycle though I am able to keep liquids down. That is not normal for me, and it surprised me. I am hydrated and ready to kick this cycle

Happy Birthday America

I know that I am a day late posting this but yesterday was so busy that I didn't get a chance too. Yesterday was so amazing and I had a great time spending the holiday with my family. I started out the day by taking my dog Kramer for a 1.3 mile walk around my neighborhood. The wind was blowing and it felt amazing and made it a lot more enjoyable. Once I got home I ate breakfast and enjoyed time with the family. We needed to get out and co pick up my sister from camp and then run a few more errands. When we got home we ate some lunch before going firework shopping. Once we got to the firework stand my dad gave each of us $20 to spend. I knew exactly what I was going to get with my money. I got lots of Roman candles and some smoke bombs. Roman candles are my favorite firework ever. While at the stand the owner came over and kept throwing things in. That was awesome because he gave us a lot of cool things. After shopping for fireworks we all came home and took a nap before going to our friends house to shoot off the fireworks that we got. We went to our long time friends house, for dinner and the fireworks. For dinner we had hotdogs and chips. The food was really good. After dinner we went outside and broke out the fireworks. It was so fun shooting fireworks and celebrating America's birthday! We shot all of our "small"  fireworks while it was still light outside and all of our "big" fireworks for when it was dark. That night I shot close to 30 Roman Candles!!! I also helped shoot off some of our bigger fireworks. After all the fireworks were over we went home and went to bed. I had a great time celebrating America's birthday with friends and family!!!

The Kansas City Farmers Market

Today I have my amazing mom up here in Kansas City with me. As a family we all went to the local farmers market. I loved going and seeing all of the fresh produce. It smelled amazing. My dad loves fresh honey and so when I saw it I had to get him some. After buying him something I bought my siblings some cookies, and my stepmom some of her favorite vegetables. Another thing that I got was some fresh basil, lemon basil, and some other produce.

My week in Kansas City

So this week I am in Kansas City, Kansas. I am up here to visit my family and hang out before summer sport practices start. I am so exited to be here with my family for the week and get away for a little bit. On Thursday we had a scare that I had started another one of my CVS episodes but it turns out that I had just eaten something that I was not supposed to. I am so thankful that it was just that and not another one of the episodes. This week is only half over and I am having an amazing time. On Sunday, I spent the night at my aunt and uncles house with my cousins. Me and my cousin Emma started to make hair bows. I used to not be a huge fan of bows but as I am get older. I loved the hair bows that I made. Monday morning I came back down the street to my grandparents house and cleaned up some. Although I got cleaned up, later that day I went swimming With more of my cousins at their neighborhood pool. I had a blast and enjoyed getting to hang out with my family even more. When I got home from swimming I took a quick shower so that I could help my grandma get dinner ready for when my grandpa got home. We had spaghetti and garlic bread. I love when my grandma cooks spaghetti!!! After dinner we all just hung out and watched T.V. together. On Tuesday, I just enjoyed a nice day at the house. I also did that on Wednesday. On Wednesday morning I took a nap in the living room chair and when I woke up I had a bad heat flash. With that I had my first headache since seeing the brain doctor and upping my night time medicine. I think upping my night time medicine has truly helped my headaches. I say that because I used to get a headache about 3 or 4 times a week. They weren't migraines but just dull long lasting headaches. This week I was supposed to be at the beach with my church, but because of CVS me and my family decided that it was in my best interest not to go. With how dehydrated I get with CVS and how fast it comes on we were afraid that I would be super dehydrated being in the Florida heat. I am grateful though to be spending the week with my grandparents here in my home town.

VBX week at Church

So this week is VBX or what a lot of people called Vacation Bible School. For one of the snacks this week we had to make cupcakes. I went to the church and made 86 cupcakes. Now these were not gluten free and I was not able to try them. I had to rely on my brother and sister to tell me how they tasted. After they were cooled I frosted them and got them ready for tonight. I had fun making them and I am so glad that the kids liked them. To me that was all that mattered. I LOVE MY CHURCH!!!

Just Some Things That I Have Learned About Being Gluten Free

Becoming gluten free was hard but it has been a good life change for me. Both me and my mom loved to bake for our family and friends. I had to do a lot of research in order to find recipes that looked good and are also gluten free. One of the books that I found is called the "The Cake Mix Doctor Bakes Gluten Free." Some of my favorites are the applesauce cake and the banana bread.

A little bit about Me

Hi, my name is Tanner. I go to Shiloh Christian School, and will be going into the 11 grade. I love my school and am so happy to say that I am a Shiloh Saint. I wanted to start this blog in order to just share some things that I have learned about my health. So first I want to tell you about my wheat allergy. Toward the end of my eighth grade year I started to have real bad stomach problems. So my mom took me to my doctor where they tested for allergies. Later that week we found out that I have to start a gluten free diet. Now for me and my family we wondered why I was in the eighth grade and just now finding out that I had this allergy. Changing my diet was tough but I have learned that I like the gluten free food better than I did the food with gluten in it. I will post some of my favorite recipes later but now I want to share something that is new to me. I have what is called Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome. This is also what I refer to as CVS. I found out about this in November and it continues to happen every four weeks. The thing that gives me comfort is that I have a great team of doctors that are helping me. I want to let people know about this and I hope that maybe what I have gone through can help others out there that have CVS, or a wheat allergy.

New blog

I started out on word press but I did not like it. I am transferring all my posts to here, and then deleting my old one.
